The most basic aspect of a good XP registry cleaner requires is to have the ability to detect invalid entries into your computer. Majority of the error in your registry comes into your computer through prohibited entries and so, you need one XP registry cleaner that will do the job well.

The next area that a good registry cleaner requires is to have the ability to serve as a backup.

Are Registry Cleaners Bad or Good

For a long time there has been a battle brewing among IT admins and computer repair experts like myself.  The argument revolves around registry cleaners and if they do more harm than good.

I will 100% agree that there are plenty of junk registry cleaners out there that are very poor and they do more harm than good.  However on the flip side of that there are plenty of top registry cleaners programs out there that do a fantastic job at not only repairing registry damage and cleaning out invalid entries but many of them do so much more.

I use a registry cleaning program almost every time I work on a customer's computer.Even if I jsut went out to rmeove a virus I will still use a cleaning registry tool to help me remove junk temp files that may contain a virus and left over registry traces from viruses.  You see in the past these cleaners only did one thing and that was take care of the registry.  Now a days they do so much more.Any good registry program out there is going to be able to remove junk temp files that are stored all over your computer.Windows for some reason has made it rather hard to remove startup programs and that is were these registry cleaenrs really shine.  This one feature alone in my opinion makes them a great program for people to use even if they don’t use the program to clean out there registry.

Broken shortcuts and invalid links can have a big effect on a computer as well. Many simple errors like broken short cuts can cause up to a 30 second delay in boot times.  I see it all the time and that is why when I am out in the field I use the best registry cleaners program.
It is important to note once again that there are plenty of one's out there that can cause more good than bad.  For many experts is easy to tell what programs not to use.  for the novice it can be hard.Every single registry cleaning program should have an auto backup feature of the registry or should prompt you to back it up when you go to repair the damage or invalid entries. If it does'nt then I would not use it or at least would do more research on the product.  Even in the best circumstances things can go wrong.  You will always need to make a backup of your registry before you clean it.  The lower end programs often don't ask or don't even have this feature.

Another good way to tell if a program is any good is to look at what the features are within the program. If all you see is a registry cleaning program then take a step back and do some more research on the product.  I cannot think of one top rated registry cleaner that does not have several options to it.

Getting the Most Out of a Godd Registry Program

In almost every single case I use a registry cleaning program to not only clean the registry but also fine tune the computer.  Even if I came out there to let's say remove spyware or a virus I still use it as a great tool to help me remove the virus. In the past registry cleaners just tended to the registry but now they are more of an all in one tune-up and repair tool.

I do need to stress that there are plenty of poor cleaners out there and yes you do need to take caution.  For many experts is easy to tell what programs not to use.  for the novice it can be hard.  One clear indicator is every registry cleaner should have an auto backup feature or at least prompt you to do a full backup of the registry before you clean it.If it does'nt then I would not use it or at least would do more research on the product.Even with the leading clients out there you will need a backup just in case something goes wrong.  You will always need to make a backup of your registry before you clean it.  The lower end programs often don't ask or don't even have this feature.

Another good way to tell if a program is any good is to look at what the features are within the program. If the program you downloaded just does registry repair then that should give you a little pause because all the leading programs out there have several features besides just attending to the registry.  I cannot think of one top rated registry cleaner that does not have several options to it.
