How to Improve Your Computer’s Performance

Making your computer run faster involves a series of steps and tweaks that would require patience and a bit of computer know-how. First, you must perform all the basic requirements of your PC. Included in this is a complete antivirus scan and a disk cleanup. To activate disk clean up, right-click your hard drive, choose Properties and push the Disk Cleanup button.

Startup

Once you’re done with the basic necessities, pay attention to your PC’s startup. It’s possible that you have dozens of programs activated at startup, making it slower for the PC to get ready. It will be infinitely better if you just disable these programs at startup and open them only when necessary. This will save your computer time readying the program before you can use the system. To do this, click Start, choose Run and type “msconfig” in the box. A new window will appear, click the Startup tab and uncheck all the boxes that you do not require at startup. However, don’t uncheck the antivirus icon since this should always be running in your system.
Removing Idle Programs

One of the reasons why your computer is slowing down could be the amount of programs installed in the system that you don’t really use. If you have idle softwares in your system, you might uninstall them and free important space from your hard drive. To do this, go to Start, click Settings, Control Panel and choose Add or Remove Programs.

Disk Defragmentation

This particular step may take a few hours to perform but it’s sure to improve your system’ performance. Defragmentation will rearrange your files so that you will be able to access your computer faster. You can do this by right-clicking a hard drive, selecting Properties, clicking tool and choosing the Defragment Now button. It is advisable that you do not use your computer while the system is defragmenting.

You can also choose a registry scan to restore your registry. There are also various tweaks and programs on the internet designed to speed up the booting process of your computer. However, be very weary when downloading such programs because these could seriously affect your system or may even carry viruses in your drive.

Prepare for any contingency and make it a point to have a backup of your files. Hopefully, if you stick with the basic steps, then you won’t be facing that problem anytime soon. The good news is that some systems come equipped with a few of these tools.

Why Is My Computer Running Slow? – Use These Tips To Sort Out Your Computer Problems

Whenever I receive phone calls from friends, families and work colleagues, few minutes into the conversation, they pause and ask me this same questions I have had to answer 2000 times in my career “Why Is My system Running Slow?”.

The simplest way to deal with this question is to use an analogy, and my favorite analogy is a car. with car services. If you service a car on a regular basis, you won’t have to worry about problems with the car, and it runs more efficiently.

Same thing applies to our laptop or desktop computer. Over a period of 6 months to 2 years people couldn’t care less about “servicing” their computer. Some of my friends don’t even have anti virus installed on their laptop or PC.

It should be an offence not to have antivirus, anti spyware, or firewall installed on your computer in this day and age.Previously, these malicious software (rootkits, virus, trojans, adwares etc) were developed by script kiddies. They were bored, and most of them just didn’t like Microsoft (I don’t know why – but most likely because Microsoft sells lots of software).

Presently these malicious programs are developed by huge network of criminals for profit. They develop spyware software to spy on you. They use adware to match advertisement to your browsing habit, the more adverts you see and click on, the more money they make. On the other hand if they corrupt your system with a malicious software, they can also sell you another program to remove the software, because only them know how to remove what they installed on your computer.

If you are still asking yourself “why is my computer running slow”, then do yourself a favor, remove all the malicious (rogue) software on your computer, delete all the junk files, fix the computer registry, remove the start up items and maximize the memory use on your computer. Sometimes none of this will work if your computer is very old especially. In that case I suggest you buy a new computer.

If you do not have a clue of how to fix all the computer problems I stated above, I suggest you watch my video tutorials that shows you step by step how to improve the efficiency of any computer system with point and click solutions.
