I cannot ACCESS my cd drive. At all. Just a few days ago i noticed that the “shortcut to CD drive” icon on my desktop” changed. I wasnt aware it was broken until today when i attempted to open tray by right clicking on shortcut icon and selecting “eject.” Eject option is no longer available and if i try to access my CD drive by putting its address into the address bar, i get an error message: “Cannot find file. Make sure the path or intenet address is correct.” My Cd drive is not being detected by the computer at all, it seems. I just put a disc in there and no options for the disc appeared (they usually do) If i try to open the shortcut on desktop i get this error messgae: “The drive or network connection that the shortcut ‘SHortcut to CD Drive.lnk’ refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again.” How can i locate the cd in my computer? How do i fix this? Is this a hardware or software problem? (Note: the tray does open, i cant tell whether the drive is spinning the disc or not, but disc comes out warm) This computer was bought brand new. Its only a 1 1/2 years old! “What happens if you click the eject button the the CD drive itself? You didn’t specify whether your using Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux.” I stated that no eject option is available for the shortcut anymore, and that the drive iteself is not accessible at all. I get only error messages when attempting to access it. Im using Windows XP And the tray opens just fine when i hit the button ( i JUST discovered it Has a button today cause its hidden lol)
